Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 6, 2026

The short version 💛

  • FaithTails is made for kids ages 4-8, but accounts belong to parents. We never ask children for an email address or any contact information.
  • Child profiles are just a first name or nickname, an age, and reading progress — nothing more.
  • No ads. Ever. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
  • You can ask us to delete your family's data at any time by emailing spyderbyte@gmail.com.

This policy explains what information FaithTails (“we,” “us”) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Because our stories and activities are designed for children, we take children's privacy seriously and designed FaithTails with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in mind: children are never asked to provide personal information, and all account information comes from a parent or guardian.

Information we collect

Parent account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. That is what we use to create and secure your account. We never see or store your Google password.

Child profiles (created by parents). A parent can add child profiles to their account. A profile is only a first name or nickname, an age, an optional avatar, and a reading level. Children do not have their own accounts, emails, or passwords, and we never collect a child's contact information, photos, or location.

Progress and activity data. To make the app work, we track which stories a child profile has read, quiz scores, completed activities, learning-plan progress, and achievement badges. This data exists so kids can pick up where they left off and parents can see how their children are doing.

Guest play (no account). You can read stories and play activities without signing in. In that case, progress is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. It stays there unless a parent later signs in and chooses to save that earlier progress to a child profile — only then is it sent to our servers. Otherwise, clearing your browser data erases it.

Newsletter. If you (a parent) choose to subscribe, we store your email address and your subscription preferences. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Purchases. If you buy a printable product from our shop, payment is handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of your order (what you bought and the email it belongs to) so we can deliver your downloads.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which stories and activities families enjoy, so we can make FaithTails better. Because this is a child-directed site, we configure analytics conservatively: IP addresses are anonymized, and Google's advertising features and ad-personalization signals are turned off. Analytics data is aggregate usage information — it is not used to build profiles of children or to show ads.

How we use information

That's it. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We show no advertising of any kind.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that make FaithTails run, and only what they need to do their job:

We do not share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

FaithTails is directed to children, so we designed it to collect as little as possible and to keep parents in control:

Your choices and data deletion

You can delete child profiles from your parent dashboard. To close your account entirely and have all of your family's data deleted, email spyderbyte@gmail.com and we will take care of it promptly. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.

Data security

Your data is stored with reputable providers (Supabase and Vercel) over encrypted connections, and access to it is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of data we hold small on purpose — the less we collect, the less there is to protect.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes affecting children's data will be communicated to parent account holders by email.
